Into the Abyss

£1,100.00

An anguished human screams silently into the abyss, his open mouth and right eye silenced and obscured by symbols in the form of stickmen. A grid of stickmen, some with golden heads, covers the entire page. The page is ragged and torn as though ravaged by time.

This artwork evokes an unsettling feeling. The head’s soundless yelling at something just over our shoulder is a warning for us to turn and face whatever is coming. His torment is our own. We are one of the many humans whose marks and letters search for meaning on the page before our inevitable demise.

Because of the “found relic” appearance of this painting, it is implied that the terror we endure is not unique to our generation. Others have come and gone before us. Our suffering knows no end.
