Quantum Entanglement I
Original abstract artwork created using pen and charcoal on paper.
This graphic black and white artwork uses fluid organic marks in a free flowing style, first using pen, then texured with charcoal brushed soft. Two circles, one bigger, the other slightly smaller, are tethered together with a fine mark in one direction. In the other direction, thicker and darker lines define the space between them. The darkness and the two circles are connected within the centre point.
With quantum physics in mind, Quantum Entanglement in particular, I wanted to express the mystery and vastness of the universe, while at the same time responding to the human need within each of us to feel connected.
The marks are made loosely, randomly. The strokes have been made almost entirely in a single line to support the themes of cosmic infinity, attachment and inseparability behind the artwork.
This black and white abstract painting has been created on high quality archival paper.

I found a door ajar. Not a big door, not a door I could walk through. Not even one I could crawl through. A small door. Not even a real door really. More an invitation, an extended hand.
A door ajar, an aperture. A certain amount of darkness enters my eye. It is my eye alone that sees this door. The invitation is only for me. It is more than an invitation really. A request. Or maybe - a demand.
I am demanded by the Universe to enter through this small door, to have the courage of my convictions. To go alone through a doorway into the unknown, to accept the demands of the unknown, to be convinced by the unknown, is to trust that the consciousness of the unknown is a friend.
To have a friend is to have courage. To have courage is to have a heart, brave enough, big enough, small enough to fit through the tiniest door, through a portal from this world into deeper mystery, is to emerge in a million pieces on the other side, fractured, unmade and entirely whole.
